Paediatric physiotherapy is the provision of rehabilitation for those aged 0-18. Our paediatric physiotherapists specialise in the care of children with neurological disorders (affecting the brain/spinal cord) and musculoskeletal disorders (affecting joints, soft tissues and muscles.)

Paediatric physiotherapy treatment



There are a number of paediatric physiotherapy treatments available. Your treatment plan will be individually devised by your physiotherapist depending on your problem and findings from your initial assessment. Physiotherapy may be the solution to a short term problem or management of a long term condition.

Paediatric physiotherapy treatment available includes:
  • Strengthening, stretching and balance exercises
  • Play therapy
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Functional activity and mobility practice
  • Functional electrical stimulation
  • Advice on adaptations and equipment such as seating, mobility aids and orthotics
Our paediatric physiotherapy team also closely liaise with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and orthotists. Our therapists also ensure liaison with parents and carers to advise on handling techniques, exercise programmes and positioning.
